What if, in an alternate universe, an alternate timeline, an alternate world, the events that played out in WWII were changed? What would life on Earth look like? Would there even be life on Earth? Let’s take a look at this grisly topic today and better understand the Holocaust and Hitler’s New Order.
Let’s start at the beginning. Germany’s dictator Adolf Hitler had his eye on Poland, but was afraid of resistance. Poland had an agreement with Great Britain and France that, had Germany attacked it, the latter two countries would provide military support. In order for Germany to neutralize any further resistance from the Soviet Union, negotiations went underway between the two countries and they signed a non-aggression pact.
What if the Soviet Union declined this offer? Would anything have changed?
Even with the agreement, there was tension between Stalin and Hitler politically that could have been cut by a knife, and it was Hitler who did so first. As the war drew to a close, Germany turned on the Soviet Union, proving that Hitler’s lust of power went beyond anything else. The latter country, betrayed, struck back at its former friend and became one of the larger Allied forces in the war, playing a commendable part in Germany’s fall. Had the Soviet Union retaliated at the start, refusing the secret agreements, Hitler might not have even dared to attack Poland, and the war might not have sparked, saving millions of lives. Even if the war did start, however, one can infer that the combined forces of Great Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union would soon bring Hitler’s reign to an end.
Yet, it is unlikely that Stalin would decline Hitler’s offer. The power of Germany would have weighed upon the former, and he wanted to buy time to prepare. Therefore, the most appealing course of action for Stalin would be to agree to Germany’s offer, becoming a neutral party temporarily in WWII. The events would play out to be a deadly dance between the Axis and the Allies:
On September 1st, 1939, Germany invaded Poland, sparking the arguably most brutal and definitely bloodiest war in history. This invasion was not welcome, and Great Britain and France quickly responded by declaring war on the Nazis just two days later, on September 3rd, 1939.
Here, let’s look at what would have happened if Great Britain and France didn’t do what they did. Poland would have been a pushover, getting taken over fairly quickly. Although it did end up being the fourth largest Allied force in WWII, the country had a severe lack of modern technology to fight with in the beginning. So, in this new timeline, Poland would very soon fall to Germany, just like what actually happened, but worse.
What next? Would Hitler be satisfied with taking over the latter country? From what can be gathered from historical records, one can infer that peace would be an unlikely road to go down. The man’s dream of world domination would not have been satisfied by merely claiming Poland, leading one to believe that he would go on to attack other countries, either prompting Britain and France to declare war anyway or doing so himself. After that, the most likely result of the war that would ensue is a victory for the Allied forces, ending with a world somewhat similar to the one we live in now.
Now, let’s assume that war was declared and the timeline relayed out as usual. Zooming ahead six years, Germany’s once powerful hold on Europe began to crumble. The Allies pushed forward, gaining a clearly favourable position.
War is, somewhat, like a game of chess. At this point in the game, Germany was losing badly; the Allies had broken through and were putting unbearable pressure on his king.
It is common knowledge that Hitler committed suicide, ending the WWII for good. The German dictator’s death day was April 30, 1945, when he shot himself in the head in his underground bunker. His suicide was triggered by the invasion of Soviet troops in the heart of Berlin, when it was apparent that Germany was not going to be able to win the Battle of Berlin. Instead of suffering whatever charges and punishment the Allies had in store for him, Hitler decided to end his life by his own means.
What if things had played out differently? What if the Allies had lost WWII?
Now, we must discuss Hitler’s New Order. Adolf Hitler was a big dreamer, reaching with outstretched arms to world domination. His goal? To colonize the entire Earth with what he thought were ‘perfect Germans’ and to rid it of what he thought was ‘Jewish filth’ – this ideology that Jewish people were an inferior and different race entirely is called the Nazi racial ideology.
If the Nazis won the war, Hitler would soon turn on his allies, Japan, and brutally cut them down as well. He would then go on to take control of every corner of our Earth. Instead of the diversity of race, sexuality, and religion we see in today’s world, it is most likely that everyone would be a member of the ‘master race’ or the Aryan race.
The Aryan race is one based on eugenics. Hitler wanted to be able to breed ‘perfect babies’ by combining a perfect woman and a perfect man. Although not at all moral, this ideology spread through Germany and much of Europe, placing white men and women over other races.
One can infer that, if the Nazis won WWII, everyone would be walking around boasting blonde hair and blue eyes, people who aren’t ‘straight’ would be condemned, and anyone not adhering to Christianity would be killed off just the same. This conformity forced upon people might cause citizens to revolt, but after Hitler killed anyone else, what can we do? The only remaining race is the Aryan one, the only remaining sexuality is to be ‘straight,’ and the only remaining religion is a twisted, evil branch of Christianity.
Adolf Hitler would rule with an iron fist, killing anyone and everyone who disagreed with him. This would, in the end, ultimately result in the human race dying out or being significantly fewer in number. The rest of our days would slowly stretch out and blend into one of fear and oppression. We can thank our lucky stars that this alternate timeline was not one that God let play out.
After so much bloodshed caused by this one person, would you kill baby Hitler?
